These Guidelines were developed by the Charlevoix Main Street Design Committee and approved by the Charlevoix Main Street Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors in February 2020.
Thank you to Charlevoix Historical Society for providing historic images. Thanks also to members of the Historic District Commission as well as City Planner Kathy Egan and Zoning Administrator Jonathan Scheel for their contribution and guidance.
Lastly, diagrams and some language have been pulled from Building Improvement guides published by the National Main Street Center in 1995. Some renderings were pulled from the Charlevoix Downtown Alley Corridor Vision report from Michigan State University’s School of Planning, Design, and Construction completed in January of 2018. Contemporary photographs were taken by Lindsey Dotson, Main Street DDA Director, Alex Childress, & Michael Murphy.
